Patient Care Technician

Patient Care Technician is a 13.5 credit, 285 hour program A Patient Care Technician is a healthcare technician that works primarily in the inpatient setting. PCT’s are advanced practice CNA’s that are responsible for direct patient care, this care will involve assisting in activities of daily living, collecting blood, urine, or other lab specimens, performing EKG’s, patient transfers, emergency response, medication administration, wound care, and assisting in rehabilitation and therapy exercises. The patient care technician will work under the supervision of a nurse, physician, or other healthcare professional. Upon successful completion of this program the student will be eligible to obtain their credentials in Certified Nurse Aide, Basic Life Support, Phlebotomy, and EKG Technician. This will provide five stackable credentials in one program.

Program Information

This program is open to Post-Secondary and Concurrent students.

  • Patient Care Technician is a 13.5 credit, 285 hour program

  • State examination is required for certification 

  • Upon completion, student is eligible to obtain credentials in Certified Nurse Aide, Basic Life Support, Phlebotomy, and EKG Technician

  • This program qualifies for Federal Aid (Pell, SEOG, Federal Work Study, etc…)

Admissions Requirements

The following items are required as part of the conditions of enrollment:

  • ID – A photo copy of your ID

  • Immunizations – Proof of all required immunizations.

  • Background Check – Run through BIS, Inc.

  • Official Transcripts – Official transcripts sent directly to us from the school you attended

Students will also be required to attend an orientation to go over  expectations and policies.
