Our Commitment

Accessible by Design

Technical College of the Rockies is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including individuals with disabilities. We design and develop every page with inclusivity in mind, following established standards for perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness.

We continually review our site using both automated tools and manual testing to identify and resolve accessibility barriers. If you encounter any difficulty accessing content on our website, we encourage you to contact us so we can address the issue promptly.

Scope

What This Covers

This accessibility statement applies to the public-facing website attcr.edu, including all program pages, forms, documents, and multimedia content published by TCR. We strive to ensure that third-party embedded content (such as forms and videos) also meets accessibility standards.

For physical campus accessibility, including ADA-compliant facilities, parking, and classroom accommodations, please contact our front office at(970) 874-7671.

How We Test

Quality Assurance

Every page on tcr.edu is validated through our build pipeline before it goes live. The site is built with Astro, React, and TypeScript, a modern static-site architecture that catches errors at compile time and produces fast, accessible HTML.

Build

Astro

Static Site Generator

Compiles every page to static HTML at build time. TypeScript is checked during compilation, type errors, broken imports, and malformed templates block the build before deployment.

Performance

Lighthouse

Google Lighthouse Auditing

Scores every page on accessibility, performance, best practices, and SEO. Results are reviewed before each deployment to ensure pages meet quality thresholds.

Accessibility

Manual Testing

Screen Readers & Keyboard Navigation

Automated tools are supplemented by manual testing with screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, and high-contrast modes to ensure a genuinely usable experience.

Code Quality

Authoring Standards

All pages are built with semantic HTML5 landmarks, proper heading hierarchy, ARIA labels, landmark regions, and native form controls. The site uses a component architecture (Astro + React) that enforces consistency across every page.

TypeScript provides compile-time type checking. Tailwind CSS ensures consistent styling tokens. Every canvas animation includes aprefers-reduced-motionstatic fallback for users who disable motion.

Enforced Gates

Build-Time Validation

The Astro build process validates every page before it can be deployed. TypeScript errors, broken component references, and malformed templates all block the build until resolved.

This compile-time approach catches issues earlier than runtime testing. Errors are surfaced during development, not after deployment. No page reaches production without a clean build.

Technology Stack

Built With

AstroStatic site generation with island architecture, fast, minimal JavaScript
TypeScriptCompile-time type checking catches errors before deployment
ReactInteractive UI components loaded as client islands only where needed
Tailwind CSS v4Utility-first styling with design tokens for consistent spacing, color, and typography
Canvas 2D / WebGLProgram hero animations with required prefers-reduced-motion fallbacks
LighthouseAccessibility, performance, best practices, and SEO auditing

Pipeline

The Publishing Workflow

1Code written
2Astro build & TypeScript check
3Errors block deployment
4Lighthouse & manual review
5Deploy to production

Automated build validation is a floor, not a ceiling. Compile-time checks catch structural issues, but they are supplemented by Lighthouse audits, manual screen-reader testing, keyboard-only navigation, and high-contrast mode review to ensure a genuinely accessible experience for all users.
